Networking in Englewood

Networking in Englewood

In 1967 Webster defined networking as “the cultivation of productive relationships for employment or business” Englewood affords business owners numerous opportunities to network, and at each event, every energetic participant strives to sell the same thing,.....themselves. This community is eager to get to make your acquaintance!

Read the ideas below to help you get out there in the neighborhood, and get yourself known! Implementing one, or more, of the following suggestions will bring some extra business to your company.

~Find a cause, committee, or citizen group you care about, and volunteer. An astonishing number of community involvement groups exist here and they all need volunteers. Try a Google Search for ENGLEWOOD FL – NON_PROFIT. Look down and the list and try to match your choice with something you care about. Another excellent resource for non-profit causes exists at Good2Gether.com. Choose carefully. Choose something you are interested in, avoiding obvious mismatches, such as joining the Turtle Nest Watch group, if you hate to get up early.

Pick one that’s not too time consuming, but with enough frequency that you get to know the other volunteers. You can always put more time into it later, if you like. Some groups have required weekly or monthly meetings. Consider the where, and when of these meetings, and disregard those that meet at times you cannot attend.

Choose something completely benign with no local adversarial group. For instance, the Save the Manatees group, might be in conflict with the boating group of South Gulf Cove,.under this theory, don’t join either! Stay away from hot button issues that would put you and your company firmly on ONE SIDE of any debate.

~The Kiwanis, Elks, and Moose Lodge are just a few of the many National or International clubs to join. Englewood has several chapters of established and esteemed national clubs/groups. Many opportunities exist to establish the productive relationships you need at the various events and projects these clubs participate in. Consider your choice carefully. Read the underlying goals, or mission statement of the club before making a firm commitment. Conduct a Google search for Englewood FL – this time use the keyword CLUBS,..you can start there.

~Attend the Englewood Networking Meeting at Thoroughbred Golf Carts. This is a live, in-person, monthly meeting on Placida Rd in Englewood. No previous membership required. It starts at 8am and lasts approx 60-90 minutes. This is a public welcoming meeting where they serve coffee, and conversation. As a business owner you have the opportunity to pass out cards and/or literature to all attendees. You also get to present a 30 sec commercial for your business. Introduce yourself, tell them what you do, smile and you’ll make friends and clients. There’s always raffles for door prizes. Bringing a door prize helps get you more even more exposure. Another way to stretch the opportunity is to volunteer to sponsor (coffee and donuts wise) the meeting. It’s great to meet the other local business owners, and get your name out there at the same time. There is no cost involved with this meeting whatsoever, all you need are business cards and smile!
