How to Repair Duette Honeycomb Blinds

By Cameron Easey, eHow Contributor

House windows can have Duette blinds installed.  A Duette honeycomb blind that is installed on windows in your home are a type of shade that is manufactured by Hunter Douglas, a major manufacturer of window coverings. These types of blinds are a honeycomb design that lift up and down with a pull cord. When problems occur with the blinds, they will need to be examined to know what to repair. Problems that can occur with your Duette honeycomb blinds include not fitting into the installation brackets and not raising or lowering properly.

 Things You'll Need

·        Power drill
·        Tape measure
·        Level
·        Instructions

1
Remove the blinds from the brackets. Place a 4-foot level across the top of the brackets. Look to see if the bubble, on the level, indicates that the brackets are level on the wall.

2
Loosen the screws that are used to secure the brackets to the wall with the power drill. Adjust the brackets until they are aligned properly and level.

3
Tighten the screws with the power drill. Verify that the heads of the screws are tightened so they are flush against the brackets.

4
Examine the headrail for the blinds and make any adjustments that are necessary so that it is inserted completely into the brackets.
Not Raising or Lowering

5
Examine the shade fabric of the blinds and see if it is caught or stuck between the brackets and the headrail. Separate the fabric to allow the blinds to move freely.

6
Verify that the headrail is level with the top of the window. Place a level on top of the brackets and then check the bubble on the level.

7
Measure the diagonal from the bottom corner to the top corner on both sides of the window with the tape measure. This will tell you if the window is square. Adjust the installation brackets to level the headrail with wall and not the window.

8
Unlock the hold-down brackets, if any are used, and then try to open and close the shade. The shade will not operate correctly when the hold-down brackets are locked.
