Coastal Clean Up Report from LBMT Committee

Coastal Clean Up Report from LBMT Committee
……and a good time was had by all,……
The Coastal Clean Up was a roaring success!!!
With Sarasota and Charlotte Counties boasting nearly 2000 pre-registered volunteers, the Lemon Bay Myakka Trail Scenic Highway Committee was proud to have 9 members of their own as part of that vast amount of human willingness to help the environment. Besides the good feeling of doing the right thing, most of the group also enjoyed the sight of a school of dolphins, or perhaps, porpoises. It was thrilling as they were close enough to hear them blow through their blowholes! Wow, what a sight, and a great reminder of why we were there!
Together with the Englewood Sailing Club, we converged shortly after sunrise on Indian Mound Park, and really cleaned the place up! Our team alone gathered over 70 pounds of trash including a blanket, over 100 ft of deadly tangled fishing line, and HUNDREDS of cigarette butts.
The park is now clean and shiny, ready for fun! It’s a great place to launch your boat, have a picnic, or just enjoy the view. Don’t forget, it’s one of the great resources we have in our area!
I’ve uploaded all the pictures I took along with a couple the sailing club sent to me. ENJOY and see you next year!

Call me for more details or to sign up to help the highway committee in their next community project!
