The LEMON BAY / MYAKKA TRAIL SCENIC HIGHWAY COMMITTEE took up their cause on Saturday, and cleaned a full two mile section of St Rt 776 in Englewood. The first mile going either direction from the county line was maintained by the committee in an effort to show community support.
From the LB-MT Website, "Whether you are on a brief drive or plan on staying awhile, you have arrived at a place worth experiencing. Lemon Bay and the Myakka River are the significant water resources that give our scenic highway its name." The committee's goals for the highway include beautification, maintenance, and promotion of it's resources. The highway itself consists of State Route 776, County Rd 775, County Rd 771, and a loop of "Englewood Road leading to Dearborn Street and includes the Olde Englewood Village area"
